The development of Smurfit employees is a breakthrough in manufacturing


PAPER-based packaging solutions giant Smurfit Kappa in Lurgan has invested in the development of its management team by hiring training consultancy Square Box to undertake a range of bespoke training programs.

Two dozen senior executives and managers of Smurfit Kappa at different levels will benefit from the training, starting in January, which has been specially designed to meet their individual development needs.

Paul Friar, Managing Director of Smurfit Kappa, said: “The key to our strategic development is to invest in our people. We spent a lot of time selecting a Learning Development Partner who was not only the right fit, but who also understood our needs and could demonstrate how they could add value to our business. That’s why we chose Square Box.

He added, “Building on the success of the innovative training provided by Square Box, we are excited to move into phase two, which will run over the next 12 months, expanding on key aspects of the year one program.

“They created a clear vision and direction, and provided us with a toolkit that will ensure we have the capacity and resilience to deliver in the months and years to come. “
