A key principle of Verizon’s commitment to employees is fostering a learning culture that empowers V Teamers. Through our training and professional development programs, we are preparing our business for the future and training the next generation of change makers and innovators.

While our goal is to elevate the skills of our teams, it is always great to be recognized by the best metrics in the industry and to receive external acclaim that our programs are best in class. Having won some of the biggest awards in the industry, Verizon is the Meryl Streep of professional development, and we’ve got the hardware and the best results to prove it.

We recently won several accolades at the Human Capital Management Excellence Awards from the Brandon Hall Group. HCMEs recognize organizations that have successfully deployed programs and tools to achieve measurable results. We had the podium with three exceptional and now award-winning programs:

Gold Winner: Leadership Compass

Leadership Compass® helps new managers become effective leaders by learning about their role, understanding the business, connecting their team to the business and achieving results.

Although the program is top notch, we won Gold for the Impact of Leadership Compass, in which 97% of participants said they had gained new and valuable knowledge. In addition, 94% of them improved their essential leadership skills, which ultimately contributed to a 29% ROI in just three months by comparing Leadership Compass participants to colleagues who did not take the Classes.

Money winner: best talent

Verizon received a Silver Award for the Top Talent Program, which promotes growth opportunities for next-generation financial executives. The V Teamers nominated by their leaders participated in one of two tracks:

  1. Create, Connect, Grow (CCG), designed for managers to help them prepare for leadership roles;
  2. My Leadership Portfolio (MLP), which cultivates very promising directors as future leaders.

Top Talent aims to help employees become forward-thinking strategic partners by broadening their skills and understanding of the industry landscape.

Bronze winner: digital DNA

Verizon also received a Bronze Award for the Digital DNA Program, which enhances digital literacy, promotes adoption of cutting-edge technologies, and receives ongoing support as emerging technology tools are introduced and integrated.

While receiving Brandon Hall honors is a testament to the caliber of our programs, we don’t train for the trophies. Creating a culture of learning means fostering the growth of our employees at all levels. And, as the industry continues to change and evolve, prepare our teams to work smarter and with greater agility to achieve our goal: to create the networks that move the world forward.
