Kidderminster employment agency succeeds in finding jobs for Ukrainian refugees

Neil Yorke, director of The Best Connection

The Best Connection offers driving, industrial, warehousing and distribution jobs and has reached out to the Ukrainian community to get them to work.

Branch manager Kerry Jones found Ukrainians through social media, followed by face-to-face meetings that quickly resulted in a married couple being offered jobs at a local company, then others followed.

The Best Connection is now working closely with local companies, including Evtec Aluminum, to recruit Ukrainian refugees.

One of the Ukrainian placements is a qualified gas and heating engineer. He is unable to practice in the UK until his qualifications are ratified or he retrains.

Kerry said: “I contacted the local college for help and made an appointment with the person responsible for setting up English classes and supporting local Ukrainian refugees. Therefore , The Best Connection now works closely with the college, which has helped secure funding to have their qualifications assessed.

Ukrainian refugees in the UK bring a wealth of knowledge and work experience and are motivated to find work to become independent and self-sufficient. With the high levels of employment the UK is currently experiencing, job vacancies provide a welcome opportunity for many refugees to earn a living.

Neil Yorke, Director of The Best Connection, said: “We are delighted to help the Ukrainian community find employment in the region. Kerry’s initiative in Kidderminster and her willingness to work alongside support organizations such as colleges will help growing numbers of people understand what services are available to them as they begin to settle into their new lives. United Kingdom.”
