The number of people with a job in June this year increased by around 121,000 compared to June 2020, Statistics Finland’s latest labor force survey revealed.
The report also found that there were 7,000 more unemployed in June 2021 compared to the same month last year.
“In June 2021, the number of employed people was 2,677,000 (margin of error ± 33,000), or 121,000 more than a year earlier. There were 45,000 more employed men and 76,000 women until June 2020, “the report said.
According to Statistics Finland, these latest figures put the employment rate trend at 72.4 per cent, while the unemployment rate trend now stands at 7.9 per cent.
The largest decrease in unemployment compared to the corresponding period last year was observed in the regions of Ostrobothnia (-35%), Southern Ostrobothnia (-33%) and Pirkanmaa (-30%) .
The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment also said on Tuesday that at the end of June 2021, a total of 316,200 job seekers were registered in employment and economic development offices and in municipalities across the country. .
This figure is 100,700 less than a year ago, but 62,000 more than in June 2019.
Overall, the number of people made redundant stood at 34,000, 83,000 less than twelve months ago, according to Statistics Finland. The number of unemployed job seekers fell the least in the regions of Uusimaa (-20%), Häme (-21%) and Central Finland (-21%).
