Bulgaria’s unemployment rate climbs to 4.3% in August


SOFIA (Bulgaria), September 15 (SeeNews) – The registered unemployment rate in Bulgaria was 4.3% in August, which represented a minimal monthly increase of 0.1 percentage point (pp) but was the highest value record low for this month, the Employment Agency announced on Thursday.

On an annual comparison basis, the unemployment rate fell by 0.6 pp last month, the government agency said in a monthly report.

At the end of August, there were 139,782 registered unemployed. Of these, 19,030 registered in the past month alone, down 1,332 from July and 492 from a year earlier.

As many as 10,313 unemployed people started work with the help of employment offices in August, the largest share of them – 20.6% – found jobs in the processing industry sector.

As summer draws to a close, the number of jobs recorded in the primary labor market was 12,808. The largest percentage of job vacancies in the real economy was reported in the manufacturing industry – 25%. , followed by education with 24.4%, trade, repair of cars and motorcycles with 11.3%, administrative and auxiliary activities with 8.9%, hotels and restaurants with 6 .3%, and public administration with 6.1%, according to the Employment Agency.
